To the Editor: In 2022, even with a new Mayor and Department of Correction Commissioner it will take years before the agency recovers from the implosion it has suffered under Bill de Blasio and Cynthia Brann.
Their main objectives have been to eliminate punitive segregation and close Rikers at any cost. Generally speaking, none of the policies implemented by de Blasio and Brann have created a safer environment for staff or inmates.
