For the second time in less than six months, the de Blasio Administration is the target of a Federal class-action lawsuit, this one alleging the Fire Department has systematically discriminated against women and people of color for the past 22 years.
The suit was filed May 21 by lawyers representing District Council 37’s Local 3621, which represents EMS officers. The Emergency Medical Service’s workforce is heavily populated with women and people of color who make tens of thousands of dollars less than their counterparts in other uniformed services.
