FDNY union leadership is uneasy about Mayor Adams’ recently announced directive compelling city agencies to cut their budgets by 8 percent within two years.
Oren Barzilay, the president of Local 2507, which represents the department’s EMTs, paramedics and fire inspectors, suggested that cuts would only make a precarious situation worse. “An 8 percent budget cut will definitely impact services and will delay response times to the public,” he said.
