Feds: Former New Jersey CO bilked cops, firefighters and others

A former New Jersey corrections officer conned police officers, firefighters, EMTs and other first responders out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in a corrupt cryptocurrency scheme he parlayed into personal debt settlements, crypto trades and work on his Cape May County home, federal authorities said in announcing his arrest last week. 

John DeSalvo, 47, of Marmora, New Jersey, was charged Aug. 23 in a criminal complaint of two counts of wire fraud, two counts of securities fraud, and two counts of money laundering related to the two fraud schemes, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey said.
