Giving the lie

To the editor:

It seems as if we have an honesty problem with politicians at all levels. They keep pushing the fiscal cliff scenario that the economy will collapse even though every economist has pulled back from this thinking.

In New York, they argue that retirees need to be put into Medicare Advantage because it’s the best cost-conscious plan.

They argue that by eliminating and underpaying workers they will save the money necessary during huge surpluses in the state and city budgets.

They argue that their subcontracts and contracted out work is more efficient than using union labor.

Whatever happened  to honesty? No one ever admits to faults or mistakes, they instead fight tooth and nail trying to prove their honesty.

They act like crimes that have been happening are just isolated incidents and not systemic issues.

But the politicians are claiming victory, and claiming they’re the most honest people too.

How about we had a honesty lesson? Who is left that could teach that course?
