To the Editor: On April 9, The Chief-Leader reported that NYC has approved the hiring of 400 Correction Officers, although the Department of Correction has been tight-lipped about the start date and cost of training. It also stated that about 1,000 correction officers have resigned over the last two years.
That's about 11 percent of the workforce that entered and left Rikers Island faster that a pit stop at the Daytona 500.
