Luxury Chelsea condo strips building workers’ health benefits

Workers at a luxury building in Chelsea where the penthouse lists for a shade under $20 million are fighting to recover health benefits stripped from them late last year. 

The six workers, who are being represented by 32BJ SEIU as they pursue an initial contract, engaged in a 24-hour work stoppage at the 11-story Jardim building adjacent to the High Line Thursday to call attention to the issue. They were joined later that evening by more than two dozen unionized colleagues from throughout the city in a boisterous picket outside the 36-unit tower on West 28th Street.
