No justice, no peace

To the editor:

For those who complain that I'm again writing about a criminal "justice" system releasing dangerous offenders, it's because it happens repeatedly. Here's three recent examples.

Timothy Bohler was just indicted for the March 22, 2024, motorcycle hit-and-run in the Bronx that would leave 52-year-old Lelawattie Narine dead two weeks later. On Jan. 24, Bohler was arrested for an attempted knife attack on a dog and for cutting off four of the dog owner's fingers when he stopped the attack on his dog.

Bohler went free after being given "supervised release." He'd been previously arrested 45 times, with most of those cases sealed.

Mitchell Bostic took a federal plea bargain for a single count of attempted robbery. This was in connection with store robberies in 2023 and 2024 in Brooklyn. Prosecutors also said he shot one of the clerks and slashed another, for which he was not charged. He had already served 26 years for a Brownsville murder. Bostic is 52. So much for aging out of crime.

Then there's Jeremiah White, who was released after being charged with punching women in the face in the Bronx in separate random incidents in September and early October. During a subsequent five-hour span on Oct. 15, he attacked three more women, this time with a pipe, according to police.

What is there not to understand about the fact that some people are so dangerous that they have to be removed from society, not returned to it.
