Members of the Public Employees Federation rallied outside the state Department of Financial Services’ Manhattan headquarters Sept. 8, accusing the agency of allowing a yearslong culture of bullying, intimidation and retaliation and calling for an independent investigation into workplace practices.
Though all the speakers at the rally emphasized that such a demonstration was years in the making, PEF president Wayne Spence said the immediate trigger for the rally was a confrontation this summer involving a union field representative who went to DFS to represent a probationary employee during an interrogation.
