Postdoctoral workers at Columbia University have started voting on whether to authorize a strike and Mount Sinai postdocs will hold a similar strike vote later this week.
Members of the Columbia Postdoctoral Workers-United Auto Workers Local 4100 began voting Monday on whether to approve a strike. The approximately 1,700 postdoctoral workers and associate research scientists represented by the union are pushing for a contract that would significantly raise their salaries and improve their benefits and access to housing.
