On the first anniversary of his death Jan. 10, city officials and NYPD officers crowded into a reception room at the Central Park Precinct to dedicate a plaque in honor of Det. Steven McDonald.
He was a young Police Officer assigned to that precinct July 12, 1986, when he stopped and questioned three teenagers. One of them, Shavod Jones, 15, pulled out a gun and shot him in the throat, wrist and face.
