Taxi union knocks TLC's proposed clean-energy rule

Proposed rule by TLC, city for Uber, Lyft fleet

An Uber ride along the city’s streets and avenues will contribute that much less to climate change in the coming years if proposed rules by the Taxi and Limousine Commission are enacted.

But the plan to convert the city’s high-volume for-hire fleet, chiefly composed of Ubers and Lyfts, to either zero-emission vehicles or ones that are wheelchair accessible by 2030 would add to the financial burden already faced by drivers, according to the head of the New York Taxi Workers Alliance.
