The French disconnection

Posted

To the editor:

Voltaire, a prominent 18th-century French philosopher, famously remarked that “common sense is not so common” when he observed the prevalence of illogical and rudimentary reasoning in France during the Age of Enlightenment. His profound insights into human nature during that epoch continue to resonate with a substantial segment of American society in the present day.

The U.S. factions supporting “woke” and similar philosophies may believe their beliefs are well-founded. However, many woke policies have led to disaster because they haven’t been thoroughly examined for potential negative consequences.

Ill-conceived public programs caused significant harm to U.S. culture and taxpayers. The outcomes of these policies resulted in a chaotic mix of madness and folly. In fiscal year 2025, Medicaid fraud in Minnesota reached unprecedented levels, as federal prosecutors and legislative audits disclosed that at least $1 billion to over $9 billion was lost to systemic Medicaid fraud.

Despite being aware of Medicaid fraud in 2020, Minnesota’s woke Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison failed to fulfill their oversight responsibilities and disregarded the issue. During his State of the Union address on February 23, 2026, President Donald Trump said eliminating fraud at the state level would instantly balance the federal budget.

To combat Medicaid fraud, we must first ask ourselves a crucial question: how can we prevent it? One potential solution is to rename AI Voltaire and assign it the challenging tasks that self-serving woke politicians choose to avoid.

What’s the opposite of woke, especially, DEI?

Left-wing attitudes and practices, particularly those related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), that oppose a merit-based system for college admissions and civil service entry and promotion.
