Trump's Memorial Day

Posted

To the editor:

In the three months since the U.S. and Israel launched the war on Iran that led to the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other top Iranian officials, Iran has insisted that any agreement lead to ending the fighting on all fronts including Lebanon where Hezbollah has been fighting Israel since the beginning of the war.

While peace talks continue, it’s clear that there can be no lasting peace without the end of Israel’s continued attacks on Lebanon.  That will never happen unless the President follows the example of President Dwight D. Eisenhower who is the last U.S. President to use direct pressure, including severe economic sanctions, to force Israel to give up and withdraw from occupied Egyptian territory, Sinai and Gaza, in 1957.

There will be no peace in the Middle East now unless the president is as tough on Israel as Eisenhower was in 1956-57.  Antisemitism had nothing to do with it back then and it has nothing to do with what we need to do now.

Under the “leadership” of Donald Trump, a man appearing to be suffering with some level of dementia and extreme malignant narcissism, it is doubtful that he will try to rein in Israel, and he will definitely not agree with anything that will make him look like a loser.  We Americans may have to accept the likelihood that Trump will try to have American troops on the ground in Iran for an extended period.

Peace is never Trump’s first goal or choice on anything, even if it means the loss of the lives of thousands of American troops.

Happy Memorial Day, President Trump, you who called the dead heroes in Arlington Cemetery suckers and losers, who never wanted to see wounded veterans near him, and who dodged the Vietnam draft with bone spurs that didn’t stop him playing golf his whole life.

Mr. Gorman is correct. Israel goaded Trump into the quagmire we find ourselves in with Iran and we will never be at peace if we take on Israel's wars. Every day, Israel instigates another conflict with another neighbor - Gaza, the West Bank, Yemen, Syria, Iran, etc.

Just two days ago, Trump said a deal with Iran was eminent. The news was heavily criticized by Israeli officials and today Trump does an about-face saying he's not satisfied with his own deal.

It’s a historical fact that Eisenhower’s attempt to achieve lasting peace in 1957 failed when he compelled not only Israel but also Britain and France to withdraw from Egyptian territory. While he did manage to resolve the Suez Crisis, his actions failed to address the underlying animosities of the Arab-Israel conflict. Eisenhower’s mandate, in essence, served as a temporary truce that inadvertently paved the way for the Six-Day War a decade later. If you intend to continuously portray Israel as the villain in your continuation narratives, it would be beneficial to include all the historical accounts that have contributed to the current Israel-Iran conflict. Israel is not the villain in the Middle East; Iran and its proxies are the true villains in the region and beyond (including Sudan). Therefore, consider recasting the villain in your future sequels. Regarding your portrayal of Mr. Trump, you’re repeating the same tired narrative over and over again. (Change the storyline.)

Donald Trump proves that dementia and immorality are not only not mutually exclusive but sometimes go hand in hand quite smoothly. He is one sick and evil dude.

Wordy Man, when will the Iran war end? 2 weeks from now 2 years from now? The end of the war is not even close. It's a forever war which Trump promised we would not have. Unfortunately, The Iranians have all the cards. Trump has none, and he doesn't know how to negotiate or know what to do. The next president will have to deal with it.

The Iran war will conclude in the near future. While I am not a prophet and cannot provide an exact timeline, I can say that if Iran fails to engage in genuine negotiations soon, it will lose its infrastructure—buildings, roads, and power supplies essential for its nefarious activities. Trump’s actions will effectively reverse Iran’s progress by a century.

Those with a grasp of history would recognize that Trump is reconstructing the power dynamics in the Middle East.

Dream on about when the Iran war will end. As I have said before, The Trump administration underestimated Iran. That's because they had bad intelligence because they are not intelligent. Iran won't give up so easily and they hold the cards. The Iranians don't trust the Trump administration since they keep changing their story. They will outlast the Trump dministration.

UPDATE! Trump just released (6/17) his MOU "deal" to end the war with Iran. It is, without exaggeration, the worst one-sided agreement the US has ever entered into giving Iran EVERYTHING they wanted. The U.S. agrees to:

    1. to remove sanctions on Iran

    2. release $24 billion in frozen Iranian funds

    3. undertake with regional partners a $300 billion reconstruction and economic development plan for Iran

    4. tolling ship transit through the Strait of Hormuz 60 days from today by Iran and Oman

    5. allow Iran to immediately sell oil

    6. respect Iranian territorial sovereignty and to stop interfering in Iranian internal affairs

    7. permanently end military hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon

    8. end the US blockage within 30 days

It turns out that the only things Trump had "up his sleeve" were his crepey, atrophied arms. We just spent hundreds of billions, endured crippling gas and food prices, lost 43 aircraft, 15 personnel and wounded 543 more for nothing! Iran defeated the combined US and Israeli militaries and came away far better off. Trump is a moron.
