Trump's way

Posted

To the editor:

To the toadies for Donald J. Trump in Congress, here’s something Paul Anka would never have written and Frank Sinatra would never have sung:

And now the end is near

And so I face the final curtain

I state my case, a sad confession

I’ve lived a life of such a coward

And more, much more than this

I did it Trump’s way.

Let’s look at what "Trump’s way" really is.  Trump’s way is cruelty, malice, racism, xenophobia, and his way has led to the death of good people, several of them U.S. citizens, on the streets of Minneapolis.  Many good people with no criminal records in Minneapolis, Los Angeles and Chicago have been imprisoned in the horrific ICE detention centers.

If anyone wants to see the level of immorality and cruelty and the intentional attempt to erase our civil rights and Constitutional protections, one only has to consider the Trump confederacy's treatment of children and young people.

A photo of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos wearing his blue bunny hat went viral on social media and has become a symbol of Trump’s ruthless and abusive treatment of young children.  On Feb. 17, a 2-month old baby, Juan Nichols, sick for half of his brief life, was imprisoned in a detention facility, and nearly died of bronchitis before he was hospitalized.

As soon as he was released from the hospital, Nichols and his family were deported to Mexico.  According to the Deportation Data Project based in Berkeley and UCLA, since Trump’s second presidency began, 3800 children have been deported by ICE, 500 of whom are under the age of five.

Why should anyone be surprised by the shocking cruelty of the Trump confederacy toward youngsters, just consider how they have used every possible effort to shut down the Epstein pedophilia investigation.

Do Trump and his friends care about the rape and sexual abuse of underage girls? Obviously, they don’t care, and they resent the victims.

Trump doesn’t care about young women or little babies.  He’s evil from his orange head to his swollen ankles. Those who are willing to harm children, like all those in the Trump cabal, are the worst people on the face of the earth. That they lead the most powerful nation on earth is a travesty and a frightening reality.

    The Self Loathing Man

Blinded by the Hell’s furies and self-loathing,

a man engages in execrable letter writing.

He composes trite letters of self-delusion.

His efforts yield no tangible fruits.

Hoping to belittle his fellow man,

    he unwittingly belittles himself.

    Overwhelmed by political indoctrination,

    he indulges in self-deprecating imagery.

"He steals lyrics from songs of old."

His lack of prosody compels him.

As I sit and pen this brief rebuttal,

I realize that he is truly wretched.

    He is driven by self-loathing.

    Ironically, he is strangely unaware.

    It is not Trump whom he chastised;

    he befittingly chastised himself!

    @Word Man (aka JDonne, "0000"),

Wow...it's crystal clear that you disagree with Michael Gorman's vivid (and accurate) descriptions of (some of) the Trump administration's policies and actions.

You are absolutely entitled to your opinion...full stop.

But rather than seemingly attacking him personally, why don't you address the things he cited? Do you have ANY response at all to the specifics he wrote about? From where I sit, Mr. Gorman wrote a clear, detailed comment about (only) some of the abuses committed by this administration. The words "cruelty, malice, racism, xenophobia" conjure many images in my mind, none of them good but if you believe that we're not seeing what is clearly happening right before our eyes, I'd be open to read your perspective on that and not what amounts to personal attacks because you disagree with the writer. Or is that all you've got because these (and many other) Trump policies are indefensible?

Yes, wpeakes, Trump's policies are indefensible. More and more people, especially independent voters, understand this.

The Innocent Casualties of the Biden Administration’s “ Open Border Policies."

Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student at the University of Georgia, was brutally beaten and murdered while jogging on campus by an illegal alien from Venezuela.

Travis Wolfe, a 12-year-old Missouri resident, was traveling with his parents when their car was hit head-on by a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction at 70 mph. The driver, an undocumented Venezuelan immigrant, is responsible for the collision.

( Twelve-year-old Travis spent his last three months of life on life support and passed away on March 6th, 2024.)

In August last year, an undocumented Haitian immigrant named Herman Joseph drove a minivan into a bus carrying 52 children on their first day of school in Ohio. The accident hospitalized 26 children. ( 11-year-old Aiden Clark was ejected from the bus and died at the scene. )

Illegal immigration is not a noble cause; it is an ignoble one.

“ Legal immigration is a noble cause! "

Hypothetically speaking, imagine parents leaving the side door of their house wide-open, inviting anyone—regardless of their character or intentions—to enter their house without permission. This unchecked access poses a grave risk of robbery, assault, and even murder of the parents and their family, all without any consequences.

( If you’re a true believer in Biden’s open border policies, feel free to leave the side door of your house open indefinitely—day and night—and in one year, let me know if you’re here! )

“ For the record, the Self-Loathing Man could be any man consumed by hatred for his fellow man. "

Where do you get your news misinformation from?

    News Flash:

The Iranian people are celebrating across America and Iran because President Trump had the audacity to liberate them from the tyranny of the Iranian government, particularly Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a precise Israeli strike, bringing an end to his 36-year iron rule.

Word Man, the conflict isn't over yet. It's great that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was taken out, but I thought Trump ran on America First, no more endless wars and no more regime change. He said these things many times. He's such a hypocrite. BTW, the Iran's nuclear capability was not taken out (obliterated was the word they used) on the first strike many months ago. As usual the administration lied about that. Now we're going to have Word War 3 in the Middle East. What's the end game? There is none because this administration doesn't think anything out.

I patiently await the outcome of Mr. Trump’s liberation of Iran and the Iranian people from the misguided leader whose sole claim to fame is the devastation he has inflicted upon his own people.

His infamous declaration, “Death to Israel and America,” has been laid to rest.

You know who cannot "patiently await the outcome" of Trump's needless war on Iran? The six dead American servicemen (and who knows how many more to come). The Ayatolla was 86 years old, we couldn't wait for nature to take him out?

Finally, when did Israel become part of America? We will own EVERY Israeli atrocity. They already bombed schools and hospitals. They will most certainly bomb civilians just as they did in Gaza. Trump partnered with a terrorist in Netanyahu.

Tell your nonsense to someone who does not know better.

    1) When Ayatollah Ali Khamenei would have taken his final step, others would have eagerly stepped into his blood-stained shoes and continued his policies of global terrorism and human carnage.

    2) Israel and the US have grown into a close alliance in economic, strategic, and military aspects. Relations with Israel are an important factor in U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East.

    Something to Ponder

Disappeared bodies, mass burials and ‘30,000 dead’: what is the truth of Iran’s death toll? Testimony from medics, morgue and graveyard staff reveals huge state effort to conceal systematic killing of protesters.

Estimates of the number killed vary widely due to the ongoing internet shutdown. The Iranian government has acknowledged over 3,000 dead, while HRANA, a reliable source during previous crackdowns, has verified over 6,000 and has over 17,000 more deaths under investigation, suggesting a possible total of about 22,000. Doctors outside Iran estimate the number to be as high as 33,000 or more.

( Despite the protests from Democrats, Iranians around the world have been seen dancing to the tune of YMCA, to express their gratitude to President Trump for the elimination of Ayatollah Khamenei—( AKA ) the Grim Reaper.

Word Man, no one morns or regrets the Ayatollah's death. We do, however question why bringing it about was our responsibility. Trump's latest rational of an impending attack is as false as his claim that his father was born in Germany.

I also wonder what Netanyahu should be called following his slaughter of 75,000 Palestinians in Gaza if 33,000 deaths in Iran qualifies the Ayatollah to be called "the grim reaper". Some consistency would be nice.

Word Man's claim that the Ayatollah's successor would have "continued global terrorism and human carnage" is pure speculation on his part.

No one would have predicted that reformers like Gorbachev and Pope Francis would be picked by their peers, but they were.

What really dictated the timing of Trump's war is the political calendar, namely the midterms.

    Reen’roe, Wrong Again!

My post is based on historical fact. A student of history would understand that.

How can you post such utter nonsense?

( Lenin, a master dictator, was succeeded by Joseph Stalin.)

Initially, Stalin was part of the country’s informal collective leadership with Lev Kamenev and Grigory Zinoviev after Vladimir Lenin’s death in 1924. However, Stalin consolidated his power within the party and state, particularly against the influence of Leon Trotsky and Nikolai Bukharin, during the mid-to-late 1920s.

Specularism is not the basis of my post. It’s based on historical fact!

Your post is based on your usual, ridiculous disinformation campaign; it’s farcical!

Throughout history, the deposition of one dictator has often led to the rise of another, frequently through a "palace coup" or by an successor who consolidates power under the same regime.

    Historical Examples of Successive Dictators

Soviet Union (Lenin to Stalin): Following the death of Vladimir Lenin in 1924, Joseph Stalin outmaneuvered his rivals in a power struggle to establish a total dictatorship.

Nicaragua (Somoza to Ortega): The Sandinista revolution in 1979 overthrew the long-standing Somoza family dictatorship. While Daniel Ortega initially led a revolutionary government and later stepped down after losing elections in 1990, he returned to power in 2007 and has since consolidated a new authoritarian regime.

Uganda (Obote to Amin): Milton Obote was deposed in a military coup in 1971 by Idi Amin, who subsequently presided over a brutal and notorious regime until his own exile in 1979.

Haiti (Duvalier to Military Juntas): Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier's flight in 1986 ended a 29-year family dynasty but was followed by a series of unstable military-led governments and subsequent coups.

Vietnam (Diem to Military Rule): The 1963 assassination of Ngo Dinh Diem, South Vietnam's authoritarian leader, led to a period of political instability marked by successive military-led administrations.

Chad (Déby to Déby): Longtime president Idriss Déby died in 2021, after which the military bypassed constitutional norms to install his son, Mahamat Idriss Déby, as the new leader.

    Freedom House

    Freedom House

    Patterns of Dictatorial Transition

Coup d'état: The most common method where an internal faction—often the military—removes the current leader to install one of their own.

Democratic Backsliding: In some cases, a leader is elected after a previous dictatorship but gradually dismantles democratic institutions to become a "new" dictator.

Intervention: Foreign powers have occasionally deposed one dictator only to support a different authoritarian leader deemed more aligned with their strategic interests.
