Union and pedestrian advocates last week sparred over the arrest of Francisco De Jesus, a Bus Operator with 29 years on the job who hit 15-year-old Jiahuan Xu in a Brooklyn crosswalk Feb. 13 while making a left turn across a busy intersection.
Mr. De Jesus was charged with failure to yield, an offense that was raised to a misdemeanor under last year’s Vision Zero law, and failure to exercise due care. Ms. Xu’s leg was injured so badly in the crash that she may lose it.
