Wage theft now brings larceny charges

But State Labor Department's enforcement falling short

Employers who deliberately short their workers on pay could now face larceny charges and stricter penalties, according to legislation signed into law this week by Governor Kathy Hochul.

The bill, passed by state legislators in June, had been championed earlier in the year by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
