To the editor:
Journalists persist in publishing things like, “America did thus and such in Iran last night.”
Folks, America is not at war with Iran. Congress and the American citizenry have had nothing to do with either launching or prosecuting this war.
This is President Trump’s war, and his alone.
#47 has progressed so far along as the sole decision-maker in the nation that even professional golfers like Bryson DeChambeau know they must call him if they want to dispute a two-shot penalty at a golf tournament.
Our President recently reversed a “red card” decision for a U.S. player during the World Cup. Getting pretty far down into the weeds, isn’t he?
An airline employee recently threatened an irate customer, “I’m going to call ICE on you.” Sweetheart, why just go part way up the chain of command, when the President will be perfectly happy to take your call?
If Trump is smarter than everybody else, more holy than the Pope, and “never wrong” in all his decision-making, why shouldn’t he be able to serve as the final decision-maker of everything worth talking about, likekings appointed themselves to do in medieval times?

In your last paragraph, you ask:
"If Trump is smarter than everybody else, more holy than the Pope, and “never wrong” in all his decision-making, why shouldn’t he be able to serve as the final decision-maker of everything worth talking about, like kings appointed themselves to do in medieval times?”
Answer:
The U.S. Constitution restricts presidential power to prevent usurpation.

Of course, the Constitutional restrictions on presidential power only work in practice when Congress exercises its Article II authority. Unfortunately, Congressional Republicans have been afraid to keep our president, DJT, in check for of fear of losing their seats in primary elections. So, until and unless Congress grows a backbone and does its job (or Democrats take control of one or both Chambers), Mr. Shinkoskey is right - GOP lawmakers will continue to chant "long live the king"!

Cannisi’s posts are true to form; they are filled with misinformation and are heavily biased. Cannisi says Congress has Article II authority. He is wrong. Article I rules Congress. Article II rules the Executive. This is basic civics, yet he stumbles on the blueprint of our Republic.
He claims only Republicans fear primaries. It is a neat partisan fantasy. Both sides protect their own in the White House. He calls it cowardice; it is actually democracy. Lawmakers listen to the voters who put them there. Trump has the people’s mandate.
Then comes the grand finale. He chants "long live the king." How dramatic. A system with active courts, sovereign states, and a booming populist movement is hardly a monarchy. But logic is a casualty when bias writes the script. The facts remain. The crown exists only in the author's head.

Sica, I have a question. Can you name a single, solitary example of a Democratic president ending the career of someone like Texas Senator Cornyn by endorsing someone as unsuitable as Paxton in a primary race?
