To the editor:
President Trump has been working hard to position himself as the god-like creator of a new “Golden Age” right here in America.
Now laying claim to be the replacement daddy of the working class, he told auto workers in Michigan, “I’ve done more for you than your parents.”
Is it just me, or does it seem a bit delusional to claim to have done more for young workers than parents laboring for eighteen years to provide housing, food, clothing, education and emotional support to children?
Our #47 is eerily reprising the Soviet communist tactic of asking citizens to accept the government as the true parent of the nation’s children. All this, while in the same speech naming Democrats as the actual communists!
Also, there would be “no auto industry” if he hadn’t been elected in 2024, a claim quite like his earlier claim, “there might not be a Middle East” without his efforts there.
Is there no end to the grace provided by America’s new savior of the world?

Mr. Shinkoskey, Trump acting like Stalin while calling Democrats Communists is part of Trump's narcissistic projection personality disorder. He calls others liars, while he earns Liar of the year awards from Politifact, which found that more 75% of his public statements are false. Trump goes after the "Biden crime family", while he, his wife and family rob America blind. He calls other presidents "weak", while Trump caves in so often he's known as TACO. Enough said!

Fact Over Fiction
Critics often interpret Donald Trump’s grandiloquent rhetoric too literally, dismissing his bold claims to auto workers as mere delusion. However, evaluating his record through objective industry data reveals a strategy rooted in protecting American manufacturing.
While families provide vital personal support, individual households cannot alter global trade dynamics to save factories. The Trump administration fundamentally reshaped the automotive landscape by replacing NAFTA with the USMCA. This agreement instituted a strict 75% regional value content requirement for vehicles and mandated that a significant percentage of parts be made by workers earning at least $16 an hour.
Additionally, Section 232 tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum shielded domestic supply chains from being undercut by heavily subsidized global competitors. When stripped of partisan cynicism, the factual record demonstrates that these targeted trade policies delivered concrete, systemic protections that directly preserved the American automotive industry.
