Transit-union leaders are cheering the departure of Mario Peloquin, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Chief Operating Officer, who had been asked to reinvent the agency by cutting its workforce.
The head of the Subway/Surface Supervisors Association, who last month called for Mr. Peloquin's resignation for spending extended periods of time with his family in Canada rather than working from his city office, was particularly glad to hear he was leaving.
