After 18 weeks in the FDNY academy, 344 probationary firefighters graduated into the ranks of the city’s Bravest on Thursday in front of their families and department leadership. The class is the second to have graduated in 2025, and includes 135 former FDNY EMTs and paramedics who took the promotional exam to become firefighters, the FDNY said.
“All of you have answered a calling greater than yourselves. The call to public service — protecting life and property," FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker said at graduation. "Today is a day that marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. As you move through your careers, you will be called in to difficult, challenging and dangerous situations. You will rely on your training, but I encourage you to keep learning. What you have been taught in the Fire Academy will pale in comparison to what you experience on the fireground."
