A measure to add a fifth firefighter to 86 engine companies across the city backed by FDNY firefighter unions was left out of the city budget for Fiscal Year 2027 finalized this week.
Andrew Ansbro, president of the Uniformed Firefighters Association, slammed the lack of funding as an “abdication of leadership" on the part of Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
