City workers determined to divest their pensions from Israeli stocks and bonds as well as companies that work with the Israeli military are pushing the incoming city comptroller, Mark Levine, to commit to divestment.
A group of activist civil servants have pushed their unions to pass motions calling for divestment and spent years calling for outgoing Comptroller Brad Lander to divest from Israel, whose government has found to be conducting a genocide in the Gaza Strip by a broad range of scholars and international human rights organizations.
