In a packed room in Brooklyn on Thursday, Mayor Zohran Mamdani declared the beginning of a “new era” of worker power. Addressing dozens of members of Los Deliveristas Unidos, an organization that advocates for app-based delivery workers, Mamdani announced a new phase of legal confrontation with Uber, DoorDash and Motoclick.
In a forceful speech, Mamdani framed the city’s actions as a reckoning with corporate practices he said have long exploited delivery workers.
