Early Thursday morning, federal immigration agents entered a Columbia University residential building after displaying a poster for a missing 5-year-old girl and detained a student, later identified as Ellie Aghayeva. An undergraduate originally from Azerbaijan, Aghayeva wrote in an Instagram story post uploaded to her account that “DHS illegally arrested me. Please help.”
Later in the afternoon on Feb. 26, Aghayeva posted on her Instagram story once again, saying she was released and on her way home.
