Alleging a pattern of abuse and fraud by the owners and operators of nursing homes in the Bronx, Queens, Westchester County and Buffalo, State Attorney General Letitia James filed a multipronged lawsuit Wednesday against dozens of persons affiliated with the four facilities.
The suit follows findings by the AG’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit that residents of the nursing homes suffered from malnutrition, severe dehydration, bed sores and inconsistent care, and were also made to sit for hours in their own urine and feces as a consequence of widespread neglect. Some of the residents were severely injured and others died because of the disregard, the suit says.
