The city’s long-awaited shift to a new health insurance plan for active and retired city employees and their dependents cleared a final procedural hurdle last week when Comptroller Brad Lander’s office registered the contract for the NYC Employees PPO plan, a self-insured program to be administered by EmblemHealth and United Healthcare.
The registration, effective Nov. 13, allows the Office of Labor Relations to replace the long-standing GHI CBP/Anthem BlueCross BlueShield plan covering city workers.
