Mayor Zohran Mamdani's newly formed Commission on Government Efficiency is turning to the city's municipal workforce for ideas on how to improve government operations, asking union leaders to encourage members to participate in a series of public hearings and submit testimony on ways to make city government work better.
In a June 10 letter obtained by The Chief, leaders of the Commission on Government Efficiency, known as COGE, asked the Municipal Labor Committee to distribute information about the commission's work to affiliated unions and encourage city workers to share their experiences navigating bureaucratic obstacles and delivering public services.
