Transport Workers Union international president John Samuelsen sent a letter to the leader of TWU Local 100 in July criticizing the local's bargaining strategy for the latest contract covering 40,000 workers at the MTA, displaying a division between the two key leaders.
"It's clear to me that you don't want any part of a strategic campaign to fight to win a contract," Samuelsen wrote to John Chiarello in the July 27 letter obtained by The Chief. "You've watched these campaigns achieve significant victories, so it's baffling to me that you have chosen to refrain from participating."
