The Fire Department said his lungs don’t carry enough air—but a Bronx man of South Asian descent is calling it discrimination in a new lawsuit.
Rickey Lall, a 32-year-old who previously put out fires on an aircraft carrier while in the U.S. Navy, charged that he passed his FDNY physical exams in 2013, but was disqualified when tests showed that his lung capacity was too low.
