When Celeste Kirkland started her career in the MTA as a station agent 20 years ago, she knew that she wouldn't stay in that position for long.
With electrical experience from having worked as a technician for BellSouth in Georgia, Kirkland was determined to break the glass ceiling and move into a higher-paying position in the MTA’s maintenance of way department that handles the distribution of power throughout the city’s subways.
